Imagine discovering a new color.
That’s what Patina is doing for scent.
For over a century, perfumers have worked within the same palette. The great molecules were
discovered decades
ago. The rarest naturals are becoming harder to reach.
Scent is our oldest and most elusive sense. Patina is building the technology to understand it. In
collaboration
with perfumers and creative partners, we make scents that have never existed before. From Hyperspace to the
inside
cover of a 1970s paperback, no scent is out of bounds.
About
Patina is expanding the perfumer’s palette for the first time in fifty years.
Led by Sean Raspet and Laura Sisson, Patina combines deep expertise in molecular design, machine learning, and
perfumery. Our work begins in research, mapping how scent is perceived at a biological level, and extends into
the materials perfumers and creative partners use to make things. Every molecule we develop is patent-protected,
precisely characterized, and designed to expand what scent can do.
Our molecules are used in fine fragrance, flavor, and cosmetic applications. We collaborate with perfumers,
brands, and cultural institutions on projects that range from exclusive captive ingredients to commissioned
fragrances and experiential scent work. Each collaboration adds to a growing library of scent materials and
advances our understanding of olfactory space.
Patina was built for this specific moment, when the tools to understand scent finally match the ambition to
reimagine it. We are not working to refine what already exists.
We are building what comes next.
